One other thing. It was brought up at the PTO meeting that some parents were confused about snack. Here is what I go by, according to the Wellness Policy. If sugar, of any form, is listed as the first 2 ingredients, don't send it as a healthy snack. If you have any questions, please contact me.

Ms. Neitzel asked us to share some information about snacks so I am sending out a yellow sheet about healthy snacks and birthday treats. Many of you might have picked this up when you registered your child for school, but there was some confusion about snacks. I have a list posted in my room of healthy snack ideas that the students and I brainstormed at the beginning of the year.

Also, our Christmas/Holiday party will be on Monday, Dec. 22. More information will be coming as the date gets closer.

In reading, we are focusing on Non-fiction text and doing activities to share their knowledge of what they've learned.

In math, we started our second unit in math. Your child may have changed who they had for math or they may have kept the same teacher, depending on how they did on their pretest. We will continue to work on multiplication and division in this unit.

In writing, we are working on publishing our narrative stories so we can share them on Friday with our Grandparents and Retired friends.

Reading: We are working on learning about Character Traits and how a character changes from the beginning of the story to the end of the story. We will also be working on main idea and details.

Writing: We are working on writing small moments about a special person or place. We are also working on telling our story bit by bit. This is hard for many students, because they don't want to go back and reread to see what is missing in their stories.

Math: We are working on multiplication and division. The students are learning different ways to help them solve problems. We have taught the students the 2s, 3s, 5s, 9s, and 10s. Please practice these facts with your child to help them become faster and more confident with these facts.
Also with Rocket Math and weekly 5 min. timings, practice what level they are on so they can pass each time.

Spelling: Please practice the spelling words on a regular basis. These words will be repeated throughout the entire school year. They are words that they will use for the rest of their lives, not just for the test. If your child has challenge words, they need to practice them for the test as well. If your child misses them, they will be on the next test.
