These three days are going to fly!
There are no new spelling words for this short week, but please continue to work on words that have been tricky or challenging for your child.
I am sending home a Reading/Facts sheet this week. The reason I am sending it is so you and your child can keep track of minutes for the Fang reading incentive. It will not count against your child if they don't return it on April 4. I wanted them to have an opportunity to earn their minutes and prizes.
In reading this week, the students will choose a Reader's Theater Play to do with a group of other students. They will have time during our literacy block to practice their parts and they will be presenting on Wednesday afternoon.
In writing, the students are finishing their fairy tales and sharing them either Wednesday or after we get back from spring break.
In social studies, the students are continuing to work hard on their Tic-Tac-Toe board activities. If your child chose to do a vehicle (a note was stapled in their planner), the vehicle and the paragraph is due tomorrow.
We will be taking the Pretest for Unit 6 in math today(3/21). We will review Unit 5 tomorrow(3/22) and take the Post Test on Wednesday(3/23). If your child won't be here for any of those days, please let me know ahead of time so I  can review with them and have them take the test early.
I hope you and your child have a wonderful spring break!

Happy Pi Day!
I can't believe the end of the third quarter is Friday. Where has the time gone?
We have a busy week this week.
Monday we have the author Katie McKy visiting. She will meet with the entire school from 8:30-9:15 AM and from 2:10-2:55 PM. The third graders get to do a mini writing camp with her from 10:50-11:50 AM too.
Tuesday and Wednesday  should be a pretty normal days.
Thursday we go to the Young People's Concert at Pickard from 8:45 until 10:45 AM.
Friday is Career/Hobby Day from 9-11 AM. It is also the end of the third quarter so the students are dismissed at 11:30 AM.
This weeks high frequency words are young, sun, thing, while.
Our focus for literacy this week is Myths and Legends.
In math, we will be finishing up Unit 5. Looking ahead, we will Pretest Unit 6 on 3/21, Review Unit 5 on 3/22, and take the Post Test on 3/23. If your child will not be here on those days, please let me know ahead of time so we can make other arrangements for them to take the tests.
In social studies, we are working on a Tic-Tac-Toe board of different activities the students were able to choose from to show their knowledge of things we have covered.
In writing, we are working on publishing our fractured fairy tales.

Tuesday, March 8 is our Spring Music Concert at Pickard Auditorium. Please bring your child to the cafeteria around 6:00 P.M. and take their coat. After the concert, please pick up your child from the cafeteria.
Congratulations to the Youngwerth family for winning the concert seats!
We will also go to Pickard on Tuesday morning for a rehearsal. We leave around 10:15 and we should return around 11:30.
Friday, March 4 kicked off our Fang Reading Club. Next week, please send in your child's Fang so they can hang it on their locker. They will receive their prize after they have handed in their weekly R/F sheets and I have recorded that they have read 200 minutes for the week. As an incentive, Fang will visit Spring Road on Monday, March 7 around 2:15 P.M.
I want to thank you for helping your child make their spelling goal. I had a lot more students meeting their goal this week! Keep sorting and practicing those words! The high frequency words this week are: however, sure, try told.
The Great American Reading Rally envelopes are due on Wednesday, March 9.
