Happy May! We have a lot to do in our last month of school.
There will not be a weekly spelling test this week. I need to do spelling inventories with the students this week. I will however give the students the high frequency words and the spelling words for next week on Friday so they can have the weekend to start working on them, since the test will be on Thursday, May 12.
We will be going on a field trip on Friday, May 13. We will be going to 1,000 Island Nature Center from 8:30-1:50(ish). More information will be coming home this week.
We will be taking the Forward Exam on Tuesday, May 3 from 8:30-10:15 and Friday, May 6 8:30-9:30. We some of the practice exams so they could see what the test would be like. They learned how to use the tools and found they really need to read all the directions given.
In math, we just started fractions. The hardest part so far is dividing fraction bars and number lines into equal sizes.
In reading, we are focusing on Social Issues that are addressed in books and how they relate to us as third graders. I will also be testing the students to find their current reading level.
We are finishing our State books on Monday. We will go back to working on personal narratives.
In science, we will be moving into rocks and minerals.
