In reading, we are finishing up our unit on Information Experts. This week we will be focusing on the main idea and details.
The high frequency words this week are: feet, land, side, without. Please take the time to practice these words along with their sorts so they are learning these words as well.
In math, we are continuing to work on multiplication and division. If you need practice sheets, please don't hesitate to ask. I have plenty to share.

Happy Halloween!
It is another exciting week! I am trying to keep today as normal as possible, with a few surprises thrown in.
In math, we are learning about arrays, equations, expressions, variables and of course multiplication and division. We will also start our November timings for addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. This will go into next week as well.
In writing, we are having our celebration of our personal narratives. The students will be sharing their stories in small groups. We will also be doing our Post On-Demand writing before we move into our informational writing.
The students will be learning about new activities that they will be working on during word work this week. Remember our high frequency words are: important, keep, food, form. Also our test will be on Wednesday.
In literacy, we are working on non-fiction text features. We will also be comparing texts about the same topic.
Thursday is Grandparents'/Retired Friends' Day from 9-11. If your child is going to leave with their grandparent or retired friend, they must hand me the permission slip. If you need a new form, let me know and I will send a new form home with your child. If your child doesn't have the form or someone to go home with, they will be dismissed at 11:30 since it is the end of the first quarter.
Remember, there is NO school on Friday, because of Professional Learning Day.

It is the first week in October and there is a chill in the air.
I am happy to announce we have a new student named Kaden. I know the students will make him feel welcomed and help him learn the routine.
In math, we are continuing to work on adding with proof drawings, and checking with an addition problem. We will do the same with subtraction, using proof drawings so they know where and why they are ungrouping or borrowing from. Then we will check our answers with a subtraction problem. We are also working on how to solve word problems.
In reading, we are continuing to focus on the character(s) and their traits, how characters change, and comparing two characters.
In writing, we are continuing to write about small moments and working on how we are all story tellers.
The high frequency words this week are: saw, something, thought, both.
Please continue to help your child be successful by reading, practicing facts, and doing their spelling sorts on a daily basis. If one day is busy, do extra on another day. I don't need to know what they are reading, just the time that they spent on each activity.
Important reminders:
Wednesday is our last Walk to School Wednesday for the season.
Thursday is our Fire Safety Program from 1-1:30.
Thursday is also our Open House from 5:30-7:00 PM.
